If you have a band saw it is very easy. Can be done with abrasive saw also but will not be quite as accurate. Start with a square end. Mark the center of the pipe. Cut from that point on a 45 degree angle in a manner that cuts half of the pipe. Rotate the pipe 180 degrees and repeat. Pipe should have a point at this time that is tapered back 45 degrees on either side. When you place it against the other pipe you may have to do a little grinding if you did not rotate exactly 180 degrees. If you don't understand I can email a drawing. I don't know how to post one.
