Tore apart and put back together many, many a small block Chevy. I always Marked the rods and rod caps to go back in the same hole, same orientation that it came out of the motor. Don't know why, just seemed natural to do so. I have heard of some engines where the rods must be oriented in a specific manner due to cylinder wall or piston skirt clearance, but no particular mfg name comes to mind at the moment. CRS :-(G
