We used 'em for years. Started with a little one with air cooled Deutz engine and went on to bigger and better ones from there.
From my experience around the tree farming and landscaping business I learned most people who primarily did grade work preferred the Bobcats for their superior visibility while the tree guys wanted nothing but a New Holland for its superior lifting ability.
New holland long ago figured out how to keep the load in tight to have better balance for lifting heavier loads while all the others had regular arms on fixed pivot points. Over and over again we would load trees with the New Holland then get to the jobsite and have the customer be unable to unload the same trees with another brand loader or equal or sometimes greater size. Nothing would outlift the New Hollands.
Others might have caught up to them now as I have seen everyone else has some sort of sissor or variable pivot point set-up. We found them to be virtually bullet proof and bull stout. I also agree with someone below that the hi/lo option is worth its weight in gold!
I've run most brands out there and if I were buying one today I wouldn't even look at anything, I'd get a New Holland.
