Hello everyone, Merry Christmas. So, I am looking over an lx665 New Holland skid steer loader and it looks good to me. Back at the coffee shop I mention that line of loaders and ask what everyone knows..... . "Pieces of junk..... ...all kinds of problems..... but no one had actually had anything to do with them. There seems to just be a vague negative feeling about them. So what is the story ? Does anyone have experience with the LX line, good or bad..... .. Thanks for your input ! Have a beautiful day, Tom

BIL builds houses in sioux Falls and he says NH is the popular choice for contractors there. Lee

The ones I have used seemed like super good machines to me. I bought a backhoe attachment for one this year, and performed a 'forced copulation' to make it fit my Case. Other than most of the hydraulic parts on the backhoe are NLS from New Holland I've been pleased.

they're fine. just don't give the new ones any either! my uncle used to work for a dealer that sold Hollands and he said he went and picked up a brand new one that had the intake heater. hey gave it either and blew the whole intake manifold off. not to mention the damnage it did to the head! needless to say they had to replace the whole head.
just my 2 cents

Not a dang thang!

We used 'em for years. Started with a little one with air cooled Deutz engine and went on to bigger and better ones from there.

From my experience around the tree farming and landscaping business I learned most people who primarily did grade work preferred the Bobcats for their superior visibility while the tree guys wanted nothing but a New Holland for its superior lifting ability.

New holland long ago figured out how to keep the load in tight to have better balance for lifting heavier loads while all the others had regular arms on fixed pivot points. Over and over again we would load trees with the New Holland then get to the jobsite and have the customer be unable to unload the same trees with another brand loader or equal or sometimes greater size. Nothing would outlift the New Hollands.

Others might have caught up to them now as I have seen everyone else has some sort of sissor or variable pivot point set-up. We found them to be virtually bullet proof and bull stout. I also agree with someone below that the hi/lo option is worth its weight in gold!

I've run most brands out there and if I were buying one today I wouldn't even look at anything, I'd get a New Holland.

there is nothing wrong with new holland loaders. a friend of mine has a lx that he has used for years with no problems.myself I have a old cl-45 ford that I bought new I have had no problems with it either.I like john deeres better.I use mine in my constrution business the new holland skid steers always had vertical lift which is good to load dump trucks with.my jd 332 has basically the same path.
I would not be afraid to buy one.

I owned an older L785 for years and then traded for a new LX8875. Both were good trouble free machines. I used them daily in construction business so they really got worked hard.

Would buy nothing but a New Holland if I ever wanted another one. I really liked the verticle path lift of the loader arms. I could load a tandem dump truck from one side, that is why I bought New Holland.

Both of the loaders had the two speed transmission which is really handy. Would not own a skid steer without it.

Go ahead and get it. You won't be disappointed.

I have nothing but good to say about the lx line. We have an lx665 and have never had any kind of trouble with it yet. I am not sure exactly what year it is but I am thinking it is a 1999 model. It has about 2500 hours on it so far and has been trouble free. The only complaint I can even think about coming up with would be the location of the engine oil filter. They are a little bit tricky to get at but that is it. This unit has done everything that we have asked of it to do without problems. I would buy another one in a heartbeat and not even think about it.

The LS line that replaced them was nothing more than a different paint job on the same machine. Their features are just about identical. I know a few people who have the LS170 model, which is what replaced the LX665. So far they have not had any problems with their unit's either. Now the current line of L series does appear to be a little different, but I have not looked at one up close to see how the features differ. In fact I cannot say for sure that they are different or not mechanically, but they look to be different on the outside to me.

I have not read the other thread that you are talking about so I cannot validate what others have said, but I would not be afraid of buying one personally. Just my .02 cents.

Nothing wrong with them at all, I just prefer other brands as far as being able to see. Feels like I'm climbing down and sitting in a hole when I'm in one I cant see the bucket. As far as mechanical and durability there as good as anything.
