Yeah, 'moot' or not ..... ya never know, he might want 'broaden his horizons' someday and get off of the flats ...... better to have too much gun than not enough. Sure, I've pulled a 5500# goose/dump with 250 to 300 bu. of soybeans 12 miles into town on relatively flat ground with a 1/2 T Ferd but it was NOT a good idea ..... then or now.
