An important factor would be that your trucks both have manual transmissions vs the auto in Mark`s truck. My current truck is an `04.5 with the 600 motor, auto tranny and 3.55 axles. It`s a 3500 quad 4x4 with an 8' box and an E-Z Dumper insert with headache rack that weighs 800# empty. If I am very conscious of the throttle I can squeak out 15-17mpg in mixed driving, highway I can do about 20. If I`m in the throttle too much I`ll see 12 mpg........but it sure can be satisfying!
