You guys correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a hydraulic lock is going to bother the pushrods or valves any, the trouble starts when the engine is turning over and the cylinder that is full of fluid reaches the compression stroke and something has to give, but it's not going to be the valvetrain because they are both closed. If it took that much water for a while I could envision valves stuck open, but I bet it has air in it too.
