My oldest one that I have here is a 1939. Seems the later IXB (with waterpump) came out mid to late 40s.
In regard to fixing water pumps, there are not usually complicated - you just have to be real careful taking apart. I wouldn't trust a water-pump rebuilder not to break it.
Those "ad-on" water pumps were used in many older engines. I've got a 1918 Ford Model T with one.
Did you try callling Zimmermans for info? He's a Cletrac expert - probably the most well known in the country, and therefore also a Hercules guy. 717-738-2573
