I don't go to as many auctions as I used to, but at the last one I went to that had a lot o f machinery, it seemed like the owner had at least a dozen buddies and friends whatching over the mechnical stuff. If you got close enough to tractor to look at it, or if you tired to start it up, they were right there to "answer any questinos you had."
Those guys were able to answer questions from the honest folks (95% of the crowd). They also kept the dishonest 5% of folks away, and prevented them from screwing with the machinery.
