Here in NW Iowa our prices are getting closer to the river prices. Usually we are at the bottom of the barrel. Local elevator is 3.67 Ethanol plant across the road from the elevator is 3.86 and the chicken farm is paying 3.71. The market availability in my local area is completely changed from a few years ago. Two years ago the local elevator was about the only market available to me and every elevator was bidding the same. Now I have three markets within seven miles and a very large feed mill seventeen miles away. The price spread between them can easily be 20 cents. It's the reason why I put up another bin this summer. Paying 18 cents to store corn in the elevator would have locked me into having to sell to them for the lowest bid in the area. Jim
