The greymarket tractors vary, they are made by the same companies that make the compact diesels for ALL the domestic companies. They were made for foreign markets, and are imported for sale as USED equipment. There are some models that should be avoided due to lack of part interchangability, but most can be serviced with US made filters, etc. New salvage yards are coming around and parts are becoming easier to get. The main reason for the purchase of these units is money, in some market areas you can buy 22-25 HP diesel tractors for the same amount of money that you would pay for a riding lawn mower, and I don't blame anyone for buying a diesel tractor, used, imported or otherwise when they can get that kind of value for the money. Some of the units I've seen have been in the 3-7 year old range, some with as little as 400 hours on them. So there is always going to be pros and cons on this issue, the best advice is still "Buyer Beware", research your purchase.
