Heard this last week. Farmer in my county in NW N.C. was in grass hayfield ready to start round baling. Woman stops car along field and told him that she wanted to buy the hay in square bales. Not for sale he told her. She persisted and finally said " What will it take to get you to bale this for me in small square bales ?" He, a bit irritated, said $12.50 per bale and you load it yourself. She said " Bale it. " Made 500 bales. Thats $6,250.00. If 50 lbs./bale, price was $500.00/ ton in the field.
