Hey Allen. I'm a little late chiming in on this one so if you don't see it no big deal :-). I will say that those old gleaners are like the sherman tank of combines and will run a long time with proper care,.......but the new ones sure are nice. They can cut a lot more acreage per hour and loose less grain. They have bin monitors to help save you that sickening sound of grain raining down on the top of the cab late in the day as I'm sure you've heard before. Seems like no mater how carefull you are sooner or later the bin gets overfull. I also like a feature that I saw on a combine that belonged to a friend of mine. It had a reversable feeder housing. When he started to slug it, he stepped on a pedal and puked the whole mess back into the header. If someone is farming a large operation and is planning for many years ahead I can see where a newer bigger machine would make sense. It all comes down to money and time in the end. Seems like sometimes you have to spend more money to make time. I think that you will have a great time rebuilding that F2 and for your operation it will be a good machine.
