Good assessment and yes, you're right smack on the mark. I, just for the fun of it, want to make this old combine absolutely and totally new again like it once was. Yep, I'm doing it out of vengeance just to make myself feel good.
However, wanna know the really sad part?
Point is, I can buy the same exact combine TWO times, totally rebuild it from stem to stern and after the party is over and the bills are all tallied, will still be precisely $200K UNDER the price of a new machine.
Further, there is not a doubt in my mind that when it is completed, it will do as good a job as, if not even better, than that brand new (over a) quarter of a million dollar machine.
There are many things in this world that are "out of bounds and not practical". :>)
