Saw an ad in the Capital Press (ag newspaper published in Oregon) at 9 PM, for an IH 674 tractor with loader, about 5 hours away from me, for $4,500. Called the seller in eastern Oregon, he said someone was coming at 10 the next morning, why didn't I come then as well? Why, indeed, thought I, unless I want him to get it instead of me? I got up at 0 dark 30, and was there by 9:15. The thing was perfect- everything worked, etc., etc. I watched the horizon, and as the 10 AM guy was making his way up the valley, I was closing the deal. I used it for 3 years, then sold it for $6,250.
