They don't have collapsible steering columns, air bags, their bumpers don't meet our low standards, and they can't pass collision tests. In Japan where most of these trucks come from they have 2 standards for vehicles. Only some vehicles are allowed on the expressways. They have cars called city cars that are not intended to go over 40 MPH that get great gas mileage but are very small and have few safety features. These little trucks are much the same.
Since even county roads in same states may have a speed limit of 55 MPH I doubt that these cars and trucks will ever be road legal here.
