I had an old Stihl that called for 16:1, and the Stihl 2 cycle oil said 40:1 at that time. The saw tech said the new oil is better, but also old saws didn't have a good a metal- so he recommended you split the difference. Said he's been recomending that for years, with no problems. And 2 cycle oil is cheap, compared to a new saw, so why not be safe.
