A Polan lawn tractor is made by AYP (American Yard Products). They make most of Sears and all of Husqvarna tractors. There are a lot of lawn tractors that are identical if you look close, just painted different and different plastic on them. MTD has bought out just about everything. They are masters of disquise. They have bought out Cub Cadet and have painted a lot of their junk yellow and white. The big thing is the engine and the transaxle. The best transaxle is Hydrogear. It is a hydrostatic drive which is almost indestructable. MTD has taken belts, pulleys, smoke and mirrows and made a maintenance nightmare and call it autodrive on some models. They own Yardman, Toro, Troy Built. and several other brands. Poulan is pretty decent. Look at the engine and transmission.
