My Dad has a John Deere 3010 on LP. He had a stroke about a year ago and I am trying to keep the little bit of land he has clean & plant feed for the cows. He says the oil & filter needs changing in the tractor, but can’t remember where the filter is. I’ve never done this before & was wondering if you could give me an idea of where the filter might be. I’m guessing it’s on the left side of tractor, close to where the plug is on the oil pan. There are four bolts holding a plate on & I’m guessing this is where the filter is. We got him to look at the tractor and he said yes that was it & then said no it wasn’t, that it was back above the rear axle. Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated! If you possibly have a picture you could send me to locate the filter, that would be even better! What type of oil & how much is needed for this oil change?
