I did most of my electrical apprenticeship with an Old timer (past-on now) God bless him. Everyone called him shorty (bout 4'-10") in the army he was in Normandy and was a chauffeur for some higher up commander. Vehicle was a Jeep, and he told of how him and his buddys would go down to the pond for a swim. They'd take two jeeps and they would drive one into the pond to the top of it's hood so they would have something to jump off of. When the were done they would use the other jeep to drag the one in the water out. Drain the water out of the crankase and cylinders drag it til it started and back to camp they went. I guess the one that they drove into the pond was pretty worn out and the snorkel was not intact.
