There are several companies that make overdrive and underdrive units that mount at the rear of the transfercase (for 4WDs) or the rear of the transmission (for 2WDs). They are very expensive though - and for 4WDs - they only work in 2WD. If your truck has the Muncie heavy duty four-speed trans though - Ranger makes a special unit that mounts in-between the transmission and bellhousing. Since it's at the trans. input, it works in 2WD and 4WD. The Ranger "Torque Splitter" is available from Advance Adapters and comes with either a 27% overdrive or a 17% underdrive.
