Brings back memories for me too. I was at Chanute AFB from Aug. 1951 to May 1953. Spent most of my time at Air Installations. Speaking of blizzards, as I remember it (though that is a long time ago) we would occasionally on request help out the highway department with our SnoGos when the drifts got too bad. One time a detail was planting trees on the west side of the base using a 36 inch tractor auger with it dawned on somebody that they were digging right over a 700 pair phone cable! Did not cut it, fortunately.
