Aloha, Fiberglass resin isn"t a good patch anymore if you use any type of ethanol gas. We had a lot of problems with ethanol gas in fiberglass tanks and it produced some gummy stuff that ruined a lot of small boat engines. If the tank has a rusted spot, check out the rest of the tank because you may have more holes starting (in that case, get another tank). You could do as the other poster said (screw in pan head sheet metal screw with gasket) and then cover the patch with a fiberglass cloth, JB weld, LPS Strong steel stick, etc. Just be sure to apply to a clean dry surface.
