Is your '92 electronic? I had a '94 and it was the pump driver. The pump driver is the little black electrical box on the side of the injector pump. I could be driving down the road and the thing would just shut off like you turned the key off. I have no idea what price would be, mine was covered on warranty.
It also could be your transfer pump, an electric pump along the frame rail. They are also common for going bad. I put 5 of them in within about 4 years at $163 and change. Doug N
