US companies have made plenty of substandard tires.Some of the worst tires ever were the Firestone 500 radials made in the late 70's early 80's.I had a set that came on a new 79 Mercury Cougar one blew out at 6,000 miles and the other 3 were worn out at 12,000.Firestone had a huge recall unfortunately mine were not covered in the recall
as sorry as they were.
