I prune all my trees flush. Maples, Oaks, Cherry, Ornamental pear/plum, honey locust, varying spruces.

I have around 1700 trees right now.

Certain species will develop sprouts again, easier than others. Mainly the plums. Don't use paint or underbody rustproofing, prune-seal or anything like that. Let it heal naturally.

All this info has come from working with my local extension and another tree farmer in the area.

I have not had problems to this point. Disease, dying anything like that. Have been following this for about 5 years now.
