500 bales per hour seems like a lot. How heavy are you bales? At 500 bales per hour, it works out to 7.5sec/bale. How many guys on the racks. My 273 doesn't get used much, but the best we have ever done is two 120 bale rack per hour in straw and similar type crops. I don't remember the strokes/minute of a 273, but I beleive it to be fairly low. At 75 strokes/min and 38inch bales that a 4+ inch flake of hay.
