I was working on this 64 F-600 today, finally figured out where the oxidized connection was that made the right rear directional have a mind of it's own ! Low and behold while giving it the once over, I see the ground wire from the alternator to the corner of the voltage regulator on the fender well was disconnected ! I believe that wire comes from the alternator, was in that part of the harness. I do have the shop manual for the beast, will have to read up on it again. I'm wondering what this may have damaged, either voltage regulator or alternator, the charging system now seems to be reading low, nothing higher than 13 volts on one meter, and barely above 12 volts on another meter, ammeter guage on the dashboard is now at 30 amperes and rising as you throttle up the motor, except when you turn the lights on, seems to hover close to zero again. Less than 1000 miles since both the voltage regulator and alternator was replaced, at which time there was also a draw off the battery, but the new parts cured that, and I had the problem cured, also checked out according to the shop manual, no genius when it comes to these things, just wondering what that broken ground connection might have done, can't remember readings I took when I fixed it that time, should be 13.5 - 14.5 volts correct and the amperes on the guage should not be so high I thought. Here's the old beast:
