Corn on corn has worked very well for a lot of farmers. I decided on corn/soybeans many years ago and it has woked out very good for me. My soybeans seem to like growing in corn residue and are pumping N into my fields for my corn next year. You sound like a dyed in the wool corn grower, like my neighbor. He tried soybeans once and it was a complete flop. My observation would be this. If your land/season/weather/ growing program will support 245 bu corn, why are you only getting 50 bu beans? My best hope is for 200 bu corn (95 day)but I rarely achieve it except for spots. I routinely harvest 65-70 bu beans and am sure I can do better. I'm only 71 years old and am still learning. Also the beans, overall, require fewer trips over the field, less fertilizer and, as I mentioned, help fertilize my corn. Actually, the two are very complimentary crops.
