Whenever we used to paint those stupid sleeper doors on our 379 petes, we had to etch it real good and then sand it, prime it, and give it a good shot of paint.

PREP is the key. You need to etch it or the ALuminum will oxidize right under the paint.... probably WILL ANYWAY, someday!
