You should have a key ignition switch in the "dash", more or less below, and to the left of, the oil gauge. The starter button is a neutral safety setup, located in the transmission's top cover. If you connect it up as you propose, how would you "shut it off", as the ignition would be powered all the time, burning the points and coil, and running the battery dead. Get the proper key ignition switch, which will have "pigtails" to connect to the junction block, and wire things up following the diagram below: 
(The coil wiring is not all shown in the diagram. As your system is (apparently) "as-original" 6-Volt (+) ground, the wire shown connected to the coil in the diagram would be connected to it's (-) post, and the (+) post will be connected to the terminal stud on the side of the distributor.)
