One Last Comment About Memorial Day

First of all, THANK YOU to all the veterans and active duty
military that are reading this. When I returned from Viet Nam in
Oct. 1969 I was literally spit at and called a baby killer when I
got off the airplane in San Franscio airport. I was doing what I
thought was the right thing for my country and following in my
Grandfather and Fathers footsteps. Grandpa was a Marine in
WW1, Dad, who just passed away last Dec, was in the Navy in
WW2. I know that the Viet Nam "conflict" was very unpopular
with my generation and that many eligible young men avoided
the draft with either college deferments or running away to
Canada. I guess that I can't fault them, everyone has to do what
they think is right but I do wonder how many of my friends
would still be here with me if we had gotten more support from
the folks here at home. And yes, I do know that most of the
problems were caused by our "friends" in Washington. Anyway, I
just wanted to get this off my chest. I'm so glad that now our
men and women serving are getting the respect that we didn't
get 40 years ago.
