Good choice, Allen. We bought one of those Craftsman mowers with a 24 horsepower V-twin Kohler engine and a 54" deck - does a nice job, but I just don't see it lasting more than 10 years or so... we got that many out of our Yamaha YT3600. I'm hoping to restore the Farmall A and get a nice Woods belly mower for it in the next couple of years to take some strain off the Craftsman... :o)

Recollections of a John Deere GP - by Charlie Cook. I grew up on my dad's 280 acre general farm in Western Michigan. Dad's only tractor when I was very young was the old GP. My first recollection of this tractor was when dad allowed my brother and myself to ride on the tractor with him driving. One of us would sit on the left fender (away from the clutch) and other would sit on the gas tank and hold onto the crankcase breather pipe.
