Sloroll tells me there is gonna be a red streak on I-80 tonight heading west.

Think he must have washed the thing in hot water or something and it shrunk? Sure thought a 1486 should be a little bigger than that? :>(

Say Allan, what did you have to fork out for that little beauty? My ol Murray mower deck was toast, so I went out and bought a Husqavarna. Is nice but cost me $1800. Some thing like what you have I could use for pulling wagons in and out of the chicken barn during the annual cleanout.

The wife was looking at a new plastic throw-away model and they wanted something like $2800 for it.

Gave $4K for this little guy 'cause in my mind it is twice the tractor.

Good choice, Allen. We bought one of those Craftsman mowers with a 24 horsepower V-twin Kohler engine and a 54" deck - does a nice job, but I just don't see it lasting more than 10 years or so... we got that many out of our Yamaha YT3600.

I'm hoping to restore the Farmall A and get a nice Woods belly mower for it in the next couple of years to take some strain off the Craftsman... :o)

Nice low center of gravity, mowing and what have you kind of tractor, with that classic IH face,(us hill dwellers like the low ctr of gr. feature) Looks vaguely familiar to ones that used to be on the local IH dealers lots back in the day.

Looks like some deck space left over, shared load with woven wire mesh for concrete slabs? Sure looks like bundles of 6" x 6" W.W.M.

Yeah,

The local trucking outfit was in the neighborhood and loaded with wire mesh. He lacked 8" of getting it on there, so they took off the 3-point hitch.

Said he had to load it tonight or not at all 'cause he absolutley had to be in Gellete, WY on Friday morn. He's gonna drop 'er off as he goes thru here.

Allan,

Didn't know you had enough lawn grass out there in the dry country for a rig like that. But heck, it's a baby doll anyway.

This is my wife's tractor. She's been wanting one for quite some time now.

When she started making noises about going into the hardware store and buying one of those new plastic models, I knew it was time I'd better do something.

the 284 looks good, allen.

I've about quit looking for a 184 with a nice woods mower. Just seems like I can never find one that isn't junk.

I can't see buying a plastic contraption with emergency whoop-te-doo switches.

Make sure to grease those mower spindles to death and make sure they are tight.

Okay, will do.

There is a 184 and a 284 on ebay right now. Don't know if they are what you are looking for tho.

Yep, I'm with you. Just don't like to buy "throw-away" stuff. Seems like that is all that is sold new anymore unless you get into those really, really expensive ones.
