If you are talking about a V - type snow thrower
there are two main types.
The " ARPS" style that works only mounted so
the thrower works when backing up.
The "Erskine / Allied" style that has a frame
that can either be mounted to be used backing
the tractor up or tuned around so you pull it
behind the tractor and throw snow while the
tractor is going forward. This style works OK
on a N tractor as you can lift the thrower out of
the snow at the end of a pass before putting in
the clutch.
