Firestorms of '98 taught that lesson to FL but then when eco-terrorist and other such groups out West got prescribed burning banned due to "habitat destructions, forest life cycle disruption," etc. FL quickly followed suite to prevent litigation. I have been asking for control burn for 3 yrs. and nothing yet. Looks like Mother Nature may do it for us. Not to worried as house is near large pond and have about 1 acre yard around house.
