Been mighty dry here and sopping wet further north. Sure could use some rain down this way.

Georgia has been battling biggest fire in state history and FL is working spot fires throughout the state.

The one in GA jumped the river and is approx. 8 miles north of my place.

Also seeking rain dance for North East Mn.
Many hundreds of acres have already burned and it just keeps spreading. Jim WJ

I second the rain dance request. Here in the panhandle, our blackberry & huckleberry crops are suffering too. Can't burn any hurricane debris either--dry as a tinderbox.

You can send the rainmaker this way also. Hoping for some rain to sprout the newly seeded grass and sanfoin. Bud

While it is sad to see people homes or businesses get damaged. Many times a fire is the best thing for our prairies and forest. I wish I could get a permit to burn my woods, that buckthorn, vines and all the other invasives would slow down and maybe get some oaks coming back.

Understand that completely. That brush grows 7x24x365 down here. When I lived out West there were controlled burns that eliminated much of the fuel. The trees and landscape could recover and do well.

Firestorms of '98 taught that lesson to FL but then when eco-terrorist and other such groups out West got prescribed burning banned due to "habitat destructions, forest life cycle disruption," etc. FL quickly followed suite to prevent litigation.

I have been asking for control burn for 3 yrs. and nothing yet. Looks like Mother Nature may do it for us. Not to worried as house is near large pond and have about 1 acre yard around house. Not much fuel next to the house or shop.

Then you hear about the nuts that were going to shoot up Fort Dix! The whole world is going nuts!
