When I lived in Nebraska 15 years ago, I always had a 2040 deere that needed a tiny little bit of ether in the winter. Even as little as I used, I still know I shouldn't have used it. The one thing I wouldn't have ever done was pour a vast quantity of fuel in the cylinders. You probably blew the head gasket out.
