When the 4020 synchro looses hydraulics soon after the clutch pedal is pushed, there is a check valve deep in the transmission that is worn out. There was a service information about that from Deere. I have the information from that SI on my web page and I did it to my '68 4020 with MF 236 loader several years ago. I have let the tractor sit all winter, push in the clutch, start it, still holding in the clutch and lift the loader 4 or 5'. it works and isn't expensive to do.
