My cows must not qualify as livestock because RFID tags they are not required in Montana! Don't know where you got your info. Maybe your state is requiring it. We don't even have to have premises ID, though I have applied for mine. Montana State University had a pilot project and tracked several groups of cattle in realistic conditions( feeders sent from Montana to OK and then to a feedlot and slaughter facility) and could only ID 85 % of the RFID tags through that process. I think the losing track of 15% of the animals isn't acceptable and I don't think that RFID technology is to the point where it needs to be for this program.
