I have done it and it works well. Just find some old rear tractor tires and cut the tread off with a sawzall. I found the wood cutting blades work best on the sawzall for this. When I did it I found it easiest to jack the wheel up so you can spin it, center the tread up on the wheel and bolt the tread on the wheel then cut the excess flush with the side of the wheel. Have someone pull on the waste tread while you are cutting and it goes faster. Another option is to find a tire dealer that does retreading of semi tires. The tread comes rolled up in boxes and it is new rubber and looks good on a newly restored tractor. Good luck and be careful.
