First be sure to get a service manual, then you can decide if its a job you want to tackle your self. YOu should be able to stop the shaft with a 2x4 if it really is burnt up and slipping. You can inspect the clutch and valve a little by taking off the hyd. manifold cover an reaching in. Also make sure the control cable is fully ingaging the valve lever on the left hand side. Follow the cable from the consol lever to the end. That is where it actually engages.
