i had a '91 d3500 dodge that the speedo would jump up for a while and then go back to 0, the sensor on the side of the tranny was full of dirts and mud, pulled it out and got some goods contact cleaner, air can duster and cleaned it out real good, put it back in and it worked fine, i'd check that first, thats a expensive little jewel to replace
