Drain out that nasty old stuff, get rid of it and do not try to use it in any manner. "I speak from experience". A few gallons of fresh gasoline, slosh it around, let it set, and then drain it out. You may need to repeat that procedure, but fresh gas will get rid of that old sludge and varnish about as quick as anything else.
