Is the bank a big, national one or a small local one? Is there someone there you deal with on a regular basis, or maybe some people you know? I get PO'd at my bank once in a while, but I just call the loan officer that I've done business with for many years or neighbor lady that works there and ask what the heck is going on and they say, I'll take care of it. I think that the bank might get charged when they send out an returned check and they are trying to get their money back, but if you called them when you found out it wasn't any good, that should get you off the hook. Be calm and firm and ready to change banks. The smaller the bank, the easier it is for everyone who works there to know you. 30 some years ago, I banked at a small country bank that would call you if you were overdrawn and ask you to come in and sign a note if it would be more than a few days before you could make it good. Ah, the good old days. Good luck, Chris
