I'll agree with some of the posts below. You'd be really amazed at how many people don't know how to drive a manual transmission, or if the do, don't know how to do it well. I'd just assume everyone my age (early baby boomer) grew up with manual transmissions, but even guys my age have never driven one. I had a 93 Ford diesel with a five speed. Only real complaint I had, besides the dual mass flywheel, was that the split between 2nd and 3rd was waaaaay to wide for towing, parituclarly in the mountains. Current truck is 99 F-350 diesel I bought used. Ended up with an automatic because that's all I could find in a crew cab dually (big family, big trailer, no choice!!). I'm not very happy with the Ford automatic, although when I'm not towing it is nice to just step on the pedal and go. I'd much rather have a manual to tow with, particularly in the Rockies here in Colorado. Next truck I might consider an Allison 5 or 6 speed, but I'd want to drive one first. Never again for a Ford automatic. I don't like having to baby the truck to avoid overheating the transmission. Keith

Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o
