Thanks to those who responded to my message about a fuel gauge and sending unit for a 4010 john deere. After the messages and some discussion with a deere parts guru, I have determined that the sending units and the gauges are precisely matched - at least the deere products. Net/net, if you ever need to change the gauge or sending unit on an EARLY model XX10 or XX20 series deere tractor, keep in mind that they were origionally assembled with positive ground 24 volt systems. If the tractor remains 24 volt positive ground, the origional replacement parts/part numbers will work fine. However, if the tractor has been converted to a 12 volt/negative ground system, you need to get the gauge and sending unit for a later model XX20 series tractor. If it's helpful to anyone, the part numbers for the later XX20 series tractors are as follows: Gauge: AR45436 and sending unit: AR46268. Thanks to those of you that helped me, maybe sometime I can return the favor.
