All, I am putting a PTO pump on my Ford 231. PTO shaft sticks out 3". Pump is 6.25". Measured my other tractors, all the PTOs are around 3". Do I need to run an extension? Or is 2.5" of engagement to the pump enough? I never really paid attention to ones I had seen until now, when I am trying to hook this one up. Seems like an extension would put a lot more load on the PTO bearing and seal. Plus if the extension is not machined perfect seems like it would make the pump wobble too. By the way, the pump is for a Weed Badger implement, for tree rows. If interested you can google. Pretty neat piece, bought mine used. Any advice? Thanks, Rick
