Farmers buy what works. Especially over several decades. By sheer numbers, the 7000 and it's successive models have revolutionized how farmers put seed into the ground. IH adopted a great idea (invented by a MN farmer) with the seed drum, but the singulation and seed placement of the 7000 row unit is hard to beat. Everyone else copied some 7000 ideas- what does that say about the planter? White had a good idea with the splitter on the guage wheels, but that feature is available for any 7000 with after-market suppliers. The 7000 has a sturdy frame that no-til attachments can be added to.
