Have to make a trip to the far north and ordered a set of tire chains for the Suburban - first set I've had in 20 years. These are standard tire chains, but they have some slack adjusters in the sides like a half-moon cam. Turning it 180 degrees with a L shaped lever included with the chains takes up a lot of slack. Problem is, they don't look to me like they would stay, even with using some rubber straps to take up additional slack. Here is a link to a picture showing what I am talking about: http://www.tirechain.com/adjusters-light-truck.htm. I'm talking about the half moon thingies in the side chains - there are three of them, just on the one side (outside) of the side chains. Has anyone used this things? Do they work? I'm going to take some heavy wire to lock them in place in case I have to use the chains.
